CIRCLE OF LIFE FOUNDATION. Founded by tree-sit activist Julia Butterfly Hill, the foundation works to protect and restore the Earth by creating environmental and social solutions that are rooted in love and respect for the interconnectedness of life.

WORLD WATCH. The site for World Watch Magazine and the annual book, State of the World, with very current press releases, archives and subscription information.

BIONEERS. A project of the Collective Heritage Institute, which has a very interesting entry on resorative agriculture. CHI sponsors the Bioneers Conference on practical solutions for restoring the Earth.

COMMONWEAL is a nonprofit health and environmental research institute through programs in cancer help, environmental health, biomonitoring, ocean policy and others.

THE APOLLO ALLIANCE has a broad progressive agenda framed around rejuvenating our nation’s economy by creating the next generation of American industrial jobs and treating clean energy as an economic and security mandate to rebuild America.

THE GLOBAL LIVING PROJECT (GLP) offers educational experiences that incorporate sustainability, voluntary simplicity, bioregionalism, organic agriculture, deep ecology, and earth-centered spirituality. We use ecological footprinting, the book Your Money or Your Life, and the natural world to guide us in creating healthy communities among all people and all species.

FRIENDS OF THE COMMONS. "All Americans are joint owners of a trove of hidden assets. DIEOFF.COM. A project of the Energy Resources News Group, this site has an enormous resource list dealing with "the systemic aspects of energy, ecology and human culture." Mostly pretty dire stuff.

POST CARBON INSTITUTE's mission is to assist societies in their efforts to relocalize communities and adapt to an energy constrained world. We believe that production of oil and natural gas will peak soon, climate change is worsening, and the current global economic system is unstable and reinforces huge disparities. is an Environmental Defense campaign that addresses the critical issue of climate change. Our number one objective is passage of the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act, which would dramatically cut polluting emissions.

AIRHEAD brings many of the complex environmental issues to a personal and understandable level. Sponsored by the Center for Neighborhood Technology.

DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE. One of the primary workers on habitat protection, the Defenders offer a very useful e-mail newsletter called DENlines.

GREENPEACE. For years the sponsors of highly visible and effective activism worldwide, Greenpeace is genuinely engaged in environmental protection.

PRAYER VIGIL FOR THE EARTH is an annual event held in Washington D.C. It is a family gathering of all faiths to pray for harmony with the natural world, peace among communities, and the well-being of all creatiion. It is a colorful, spirited and spiritual celebration.
